Help us build the next generation of training for the next generation of lawyers

About Us

Praktio provides practical, interactive, online training solutions to the world’s leading law firms and corporations. We’re a lean startup based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, founded by a Michigan Law professor, and spun out from the University. We strive to break old molds for online training, using research-backed teaching methods (like spaced repetition and deliberate practice) to deliver impactful training that engages learners with realistic activities and immediate feedback.

We’re on a mission to create learning spaces within professional environments where learners can make mistakes and the only consequence is they get to learn something.

About this Opportunity

At Praktio, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a small team to have a large impact on our product offerings. You’ll work directly with the company’s CEO/founder to develop practice group-specific training content for US Big Law firms.

This full-time employment engagement is 100% remote, so you can work from anywhere in the US.

What You’ll Do

Work with the CEO to develop practice-group specific training (capital markets, public M&A, private M&A/private equity, banking/finance, real estate, venture capital/emerging companies, or technology transactions)—in particular:

  • Determine target audience
  • Develop learning objectives for the course
  • Plan and map learning activities to serve those objectives
  • Write scripts for video-like content
  • Write exercise content, such as questions, choices, feedback explanations for each choice, and any underlying documents

Work with the CEO to find and assess other potential content developers for areas of need and to manage and collaborate with those content developers to produce course content.

What You’ll Need

  • JD from a US accredited law school
  • 3+ years' experience at a major US law firm in one of the transactional practice groups listed above
  • Deep knowledge and experience with the lifecycle, tasks, and documents of the typical deals of one of those transactional practice groups
  • Excellent writing skills
  • An ability to break down complex processes or concepts into frameworks (i.e., smaller parts that fit together) and explain them clearly to an unfamiliar audience
  • Interest in professional development and training
  • Demonstrated team player, which for us means:
    • Conscientiousness: you’re somebody who cares about doing good work and helping your colleagues (and our customers!) to do the same
    • Communication: you ask questions, give and seek feedback, and notify the team about new information that affects timelines and should shift expectations or priorities
    • Curiosity: you’re excited to learn new things and continuously get better and take the initiative to do so
    • Nimble-minded: you realize priorities (especially at a startup) often shift and that the first solution isn’t always the right one for us
    • Taking ownership: you’re honest (with yourself and your colleagues) when you make a mistake so we can mitigate any fallout and reflect as a team to get better

Bonus Points For

  • Legal experience beyond the requisite listed above (e.g., additional years in a US Big Law firm, in-house experience)
  • Teaching experience (e.g., adjuncting at a law school, training internally at a firm)
  • Experience developing training materials

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary
  • Company-sponsored health and dental insurance
  • 401k retirement plan, with employer match
  • Flexible work week (averaging 40-50 hours/week)
  • Flexible vacation time
  • Work remotely from anywhere in the US

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit the following to opps@praktio.com:

  • Cover letter or statement of interest
